Awkward and Awesome Thursday is Back! Huzzah!

Hello all! Many apologies for dropping off the face of the Earth these past weeks. Here is a picture of an adorable kitty (that I have named Gaius) to make up for it.

I am going to blame it entirely on end of term/exam overload which, unfortunately, still won't be concluded for another week. But after taking the most terrifying exam of my life yesterday, I thought I'd give myself an easy Thursday and bring to you, dear reader, (finally!) a new blog post. And, not just any new blog post, an Awkward and Awesome one.

AWKWARD
  • Not being able to find my exam number on the seating chart when I get the exam hall. And freaking out because, like, this is the LAST THING I need to happen five minutes before my exam. And going up to the guy running the thing and freaking out to him about my number. “Are you doing something slightly different? The Prelim for Part II?” he asks. “Yes!” I frantically say, hopeful that this means I'm in the right place. So he walks me back over to the seating chart, and on a MASSIVE piece of paper devoted solely to me, is my number and seating position. Sometimes when you're panicked, you miss the obvious.
  • When flies come in through my open window and I chase them around my bedroom with a copy of a Shakespeare text (Measure for Measure and Titus Andronicus have been favorites) trying to either kill them or escort them back out the window. I swear, if someone filmed me and posted the video on YouTube, they would no doubt get at least 500,000 views, that's how outrageous I look. Thank God no one has actually done that. As far as I know...
  • Trying to manage a short skirt, a very windy day, a very public festival with lots of people around, a massively overloaded chicken pita wrap, and a glass of beer. Doesn't end well.
  • My hilarious mom and aunt Skyping me in New York and introducing me, via an iPad and said Skype, to the workers at the donut shop in which they were Skyping me. *awkwardly waves at donut shop workers*
AWESOME
  • Having one exam finished! I probably failed it (okay, well, not failed, but I probably didn't do as well as I wanted), but it is out of the way and that means I only have ONE MORE EXAM before the long vacation (aka Summer Break...also, when I say “long vacation” I think of Game of Thrones and their constant reference to the “long summer” and it makes the nerd in me happy).
  • Speaking of Game of Thrones. It's amazing. It makes my life. Also, meeting fellow Game of Thrones nerds at a swap and standing in the women's bathroom with them doing my best Jaqen H'ghar impression (ex: “A girl really enjoyed Hall tonight, though a girl wishes that she could have had more vinaigrette on her salad.”)
  • The ABSOLUTELY AMAZING weather we had all last week. It was nearly 27 every day (for my fellow Americans, that's close to 80). I got sunburn! (Okay that's not that awesome, but I think it'll eventually turn into a tan.) I got to wear shorts and dresses and skirts. Without tights! England can really be an amazing place.
  • Had my first ever Pimms and lemonade. It was the perfect combination of summer and Cambridge.
  • Jumped my horse for the first time today! Granted, it was only 9 inches off the ground, but it was still the coolest thing ever! It makes me happy to see how much I've progressed since February. Who knows what I'll be doing this time next year...competing maybe? :)
  • This delicious lunch I made for myself today. Reminds me of the mouth-watering meals we had everyday in Barcelona. I think I'm going to have it again for dinner. Be jealous.

Well, dear readers, that's about it. Sorry for a short one, but I've mostly been locked in my room all week so nothing too awkward or awesome has happened to me. Please spread the word that my blog is still up and running, and leave a comment below because I procrastinate a lot and I check my email ALL THE TIME and love getting random notifications that people have left me adorable little comments. So, tell me, how was your week awkward or awesome? Any exam advice? Are you secret a Game of Thrones fan? (If you are, please, let's talk! Or, better yet, leave me a comment in your best Jaqen H'ghar impression!)

PS: If you want to know why I am so obsessed with Jaqen H'ghar (besides the fact that he always speaks in third person and refers to himself as "a man" and is an ASSASSIN!), here is why. (PPS: My undying thanks goes out to the casting agents of the show for all of the eye candy they've given the viewers this season.)
