I Think Summer is Finally Here

Today we had BEAUTIFUL weather outside.  Gorgeous, I'm telling you.  The sun came down just warm enough, bordering on hot, but a cool breeze and some shade eased down the intensity.
It was the perfect day to pull out a sundress and enjoy the outdoors.  I dragged my bike out of the garage for the first time this summer.  I took it for a spin around the block, but didn't have time for a full bike ride.  Tomorrow perhaps.  You'll notice I'm wearing proper biking attire: cute dress (with biker shorts underneath so I don't flash anyone) that has pockets for me to keep my cell phone and iPod, TOMS for sturdiness, and a chic pair of sunglass to protect me from those fierce rays.
This afternoon I went on a picnic with these two lovely ladies.  We've had this picnic planned out for a few days and the weather could not have been any better.
We totally came prepared for a picnic.  We had: sandwiches, apples, bananas, raspberries, watermelon, sour cream and onion chips, olives (both black and green), animal cracker cookies, and homemade cake.  We ate nearly everything except the watermelon rind.  Then we spent a few hours just lounging around in the sunshine, listening to music by the extremely talented Teitur Lassen (If you haven't heard of him, don't worry; I hadn't either before.  He's a fantastic singer-songwriter from the Faroe Islands.).  I read a bit of Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle which is one of the novels I'm reading right now.  We chatted, we laughed, we took some pictures, we watched kites dip in and out of the sky, we watched boats pass by on the lake, we agreed that we were quite blessed to live in such a lovely city right on the water.  Here is our view from where we were laid out in the park.
Overall, it was a perfect summer day.  I hope to have more days like it.  We discussed England and having picnics/study parties on the sprawling greens of St. John's College.  It made me incredibly excited to start up new adventure in Cambridge.  I cannot wait for British summers.
