The Start of a Golden Year

I turned 22 on the 22nd of this month (aka yesterday).  That means that this birthday was my golden birthday and that means that this upcoming year is supposed to be the best year of my life.  So far, this past week has been pretty good.

Breakfast: avocado for omelets and fresh cantaloupe.

Ann Patchett: I got to go to her reading on my birthday.
She wrote me a personalized birthday message in one of my
favorite novels by her, Bel Canto, she complimented my shirt,
and she was a genuinely awesome person to meet.

My stepdad built bookshelves into my
closet.  Don't they look awesome? I just
love them!

Margaritas! Need I say more?

Went to see Midnight in Paris with my
sister.  Super cute movie with a great 20s
feel and lots of literary cameos.

Cupcakes! I love Milwaukee Cupcake Company's delicious
desserts.  This is a strawberry vanilla cake with strawberry
cream frosting, and a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
Delish!

Like I said, pretty good start to my golden year.  I've got a lot of fantastic, exciting events to look forward to and obviously if you've been following my blog, you know what I mean.  :)

  1. That's awesome that you got to meet Ann Patchett! I met her freshman year when she came to campus, because one of her books was used for our freshman year reading program. to make a long story short I got to sit next to her during dinner and talked a bit with her - she's incredibly nice!

  2. I'm so jealous! What book did you read for class? She talked a lot about how her novels were used in schools, and I was sad we'd never read anything of hers at my school.
